Call Of Duty Modern Warfare Multiplayer Review
The New COD came out on Thursday and the first breakout weekend just happened and we are now all recovering from staring at our screens for 12+ hours a day this weekend. Its now time to review the new game everyone is talking about. For people who aren’t even big video gamers, everyone who was born between 1991 and 2002 are excited to get back to the old world of Modern Warfare. A lot happened so let’s dive in and you hear my thoughts on the new game. I have not yet played the campaign as I wanted to grind multiplayer so I had a good idea on how the dynamic of the game is. There will be another blog later this week about my thoughts on the campaign
First Overall Thoughts
I wish I could convey to you, how absolutely hyped I was to play this game at 8PM CST on Thursday. I had my game preordered, downloaded and ready to go. The first beanbag that hit me in the chest for this game were the down servers for a solid hour. That hurt a little bit, morale got a little low, but after a bit Blizzard and Activision got their S@%&T together and the game was live and ready to go. To start this off the graphics look great, the game itself looks amazing. I will say they did an amazing job with texture and it all looks great. Since I am at school I don’t have my desktop, and am playing on a gaming laptop my graphic capabilities are somewhat limited. I can still run the game and it still looks great, but one part that was absolutely triggering me at the start was the game was taking up so much priority on my CPU I was having mouse input lag which almost made the game unplayable for me. I couldn’t tell you why but having some mouse stutter just a little bit felt as if the game was not even possible. Regardless the initial substance of the game everything looked great.
Maps
Of course once I started playing I immediately had to start grinding to get my level up, and also start to learn the game. Needed to play every map, learn the guns, and figure out the learning curve. I played a lot of Call of Duty this weekend, but I will have to say that all the maps are trash. I don’t know what it is but it is almost just too easy to rage in this game. The maps are either too small or too big. You’re either getting spawn killed or spawning 10 miles outside the map to anything. Obviously this has nothing to do with ground war, and is purely in reference to basic game modes. There are just so many camping spots and so many spots you can hide. Honestly I though Black Ops 4 had great maps, and I am just so confused on what happened here. I did play a map I had never played before last night which actually had some room for people and didn’t feel like I was being dominated.
Guns
Honestly in my opinion it’s really hard to ruin the guns in the game. I have tried a decent amount of the guns, I am only level 40 so I haven’t unlocked everything, but I think the guns showed up well. The new attachment system is executed really well honestly. Its really cool with the amount of customization you get with each gun, and it really allows players to make the perfect gun for their play styles, but it also helps gun meta’s come and go. If I can commend anything about this game so far, the gun system really is the best thing about the game.
Cross Platform & Gameplay
Moving on, having the ability to play a game on a PC with people who are playing on an Xbox Or PS4 might be the greatest thing ever. Having the ability to trash talk people on a PC to console players is even better. Listening to these lobbies brings me back to middle school and I love every second of it. I think letting me play with my friends from high school who still play on Xbox is amazing and it really creates and brings back the MW community. Other than the cross platform the game play actually pisses me off. For some reason all I can do is get just shredded by someone hiding in a spot I somehow missed. I usually finish well, but I just die so much sometimes. The slide mechanic I think is actually garbage. Maybe I’m just used to Apex Legends but I just wish when I slide I actually slide. Honestly I don’t know what they can do, I think the game just needs a little bit of tweaks and it can be good, but it’s just throwing me right now.
Overall
After playing this weekend I think I just need to see how the next update comes out, it is a brand new multiplayer game and it is going to have its issues. I am going to keep grinding it out and play the Campaign and really make sure I hit every aspect to the game. Make sure to check in later this week with a campaign blog post, and don’t forget to keep gaming.
